YANYANG MARINE provides comprehensive solutions covering the design, production, installation, commissioning and application of dredge discharge systems for Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers and bottom dumping hopper Barges.
Hopper Doors
The hopper doors of a trailing suction hopper dredger comprise main hopper doors, pre-dumping doors, and pump-assisted small hopper doors.
Main hopper doors and pre-dumping doors discharge slurry to designated areas.
Small hopper doors transfer slurry from the hopper to specified locations via dedicated pipelines and Dredge Pumps.
Main hopper doors are installed at the bottom of the hopper, arranged equally spaced on both sides or in the middle of the hopper in pairs (port and starboard).
Dredgers are equipped with different numbers of hopper doors according to hopper volume and structure; typical 10,000m³ hopper dredgers are fitted with more than 7 pairs (14 units). The most common types of main hopper doors are conical hopper doors and box-type hopper doors.

For bottom dumping hopper barges, the hopper door (also known as bottom dumping door) serves as the core discharge structure. It opens at the bottom of the barge to achieve rapid and controlled gravity discharge of dredged materials, ensuring efficient transportation and disposal.
In both applications, hopper doors feature reliable sealing to prevent mud leakage and seawater backflow. They can be quickly closed in emergencies to ensure equipment and personnel safety.
Manufactured from high-strength wear-resistant and corrosion-proof marine steel, they operate stably in harsh marine environments and are widely applied in port construction, waterway Dredging, Reclamation and sediment disposal projects.
