FAQs

Q1: What is the configuration of the TOWING WINCH on the ship?
A: The ship is equipped with 1 unit of TOWING WINCH at the aft, which is dedicated for towing operations. Its braking force is 140t, matching the ship’s Towing Capacity and ensuring stable and safe towing work. In addition, there are 2 units of Combined Windlass/Winch (2-in-1) at the forward, which are used for both anchoring and towing, with a braking force of 140t each.

Q2: What is the main function of the TOWING WINCH?

A: The TOWING WINCH is a core deck machinery dedicated to towing operations. It is mainly used to provide traction for port towing, pushing/berthing and coastal towing tasks, and cooperates with the ship’s bollards and stern roller to realize efficient and safe towing of ships or other objects in coastal China navigation area.

Q3: What is the braking force of the TOWING WINCH, and what is its significance?

A: The braking force of the TOWING WINCH is 140t. This parameter is matched with the ship’s bollard pull (approx. 75t ahead), which can effectively control the tension of the towing cable during towing operations, prevent the cable from slipping due to excessive tension, and ensure the safety and stability of the entire towing process, especially in coastal complex sea conditions.

Q4: Is the TOWING WINCH used together with other towing-related equipment?

A: Yes. The TOWING WINCH works with the ship’s anchors (2 x Spek anchors, 1290kg each), anchor chain (15 shackles, Φ28mm), bollards (forward and aft combined bitts and double bitts) and stern roller. These equipment work together to form a complete towing system, ensuring the smooth progress of towing operations.

Q5: What is the main purpose of the ship?

A: The ship is mainly used for port towing, pushing/berthing and coastal towing operations. It also has CCS "Fire Fighting Ship 1" capability and B-class Ice Strengthening, which can meet the needs of fire fighting and adapt to certain ice conditions.

Q6: What are the key parameters of the ship?

A: Overall length 38.5m (excluding fenders), free running speed ≥13 knots, bollard pull approx. 75t (ahead), gross tonnage 679, net tonnage 203, navigation area is coastal China, and it can accommodate 12 persons.

Q7: What fire fighting equipment is the ship equipped with?

A: It is equipped with 1 set of external fire pump, 2 fire monitors, 2 electric fire/bilge pumps, 1 emergency fire pump, 5 dual-purpose spray nozzles, 18 portable fire extinguishers, 1 x 45L wheeled foam extinguisher, 5 sets of firefighter outfits, and a complete foam extinguishing system (including a 9.0m³ foam tank).

Q8: What are the main engines of the ship?

A: There are 2 units of Weichai 8WH25LC3000-9 diesel engines, inline 4-stroke, direct injection, turbocharged and intercooled, with a continuous power of 2207kW each at 900r/min, which provide power for the ship’s navigation and operations (including the TOWING WINCH).

Q9: What is the hull structure of the ship?

A: It is an all-steel welded structure with a single deck, local double bottom and continuous flush deck, plumb bow, transom stern, and amidships deckhouse. The hull is transversely framed, using CCS-approved steel, and the main deck thickness is 10mm (thickened to 18mm in deck machinery areas).
