Cutter suction dredgers are key equipment in port engineering, waterway dredging, land reclamation and sediment treatment. The efficiency, safety and accuracy of dredging construction depend entirely on reasonable configuration of auxiliary vessels and supporting equipments.

2000–3000 GT cutter suction dredger: generally equipped with about 2000 hp anchor boat

3000–5000 GT cutter suction dredger: generally equipped with about 4000 hp anchor boat

Under adverse weather conditions, two anchor boats shall be used for combined towing to ensure safety.

Tugboat Configuration

Tugboats must meet requirements for bollard pull, wind resistance and ice class to ensure safe towing.


Booster Pump Station Vessel

When the slurry discharge distance is extremely long, a booster pump station vessel is arranged in the middle of the discharge pipeline. It provides additional pressure for mud transportation, ensuring slurry can be stably and smoothly delivered to the designated disposal area.

High‑Precision Measurement System

High‑precision measurement system is the core of digital dredging construction, mainly including:


GPS‑RTK positioning system: real‑time monitoring of dredger position

Sonar echo sounder: real‑time detection of underwater terrain

It can accurately control dredging depth and scope, avoid over‑dredging or missing dredging, and realize intelligent and digital construction.


Mooring and Shifting Equipment

Mooring and shifting equipment are specially used for precise positioning and displacement control of cutter suction dredgers. They keep the dredger stable and controllable during operation, ensuring construction accuracy and safety.


Transport Boats and Vehicles

Selection logic depends on offshore distance and transportation mode.

Survey Vessel

Small water area (small rivers): survey can be completed on the dredger with multi‑beam echo sounder or drone; no special survey vessel is needed.

Large water area (large ports, waterways): special survey vessel is required for high‑frequency, large‑scale underwater terrain scanning to ensure construction quality.




Crane: used for onshore pipeline installation, equipment maintenance and hoisting. Wharf cranes can be used if shore facilities are complete; otherwise, special crane must be equipped.

Excavator: used to assist in dredging and trimming in extremely shallow water or hard slope areas where the dredger cannot operate effectively.
